The OPUS wedge, which aims for the highest quality finish and spin thanks to a special manufacturing process and tungsten bar, also has another high-grade sibling model, the OPUS PLATINUM wedge. While the shape, which was derived from careful listening to professional requests, the increased number of grooves, and the face treatment are all the same, there are of course some significant differences. One is the head manufacturing method, which uses MIM (metal powder injection molding) and milling. This is an unprecedented method that allows for more precise shaping according to the design. Additionally, a new tungsten bar is installed on the upper back face to raise the center of gravity. By increasing the gear effect, spin performance is further improved. The lineup consists of sand wedges and lob wedges ranging from 54 degrees to 60 degrees, and is available in a chrome finish.

Features & Benefits:

  • Adopts the same well-thought-out teardrop shape as the OPUS wedge
The OPUS PLATINUM wedge uses the same head shape as the OPUS wedge. One of its major features is the leading edge, which, reflecting feedback from tour professionals, has a rounded edge somewhere between the JAWS RAW wedge and the JAWS FORGED wedge. Overall, the heel side of the top blade is a teardrop shape that is neither too low nor too high, and the shape from the hosel to the face, especially the part that connects to the top blade, is now a very smooth curve, rather than the previously concave shape.

  • The head is precisely manufactured according to the design using the rare MIM manufacturing method and machining
What makes the OPUS PLATINUM Wedge unique is that its new form is achieved not by casting or forging, but by the unique MIM (Metal Injection Method) and machined construction. The MIM process involves mixing powdered metal with a resin adhesive, heat treating it, and then shaping it. The resulting material is then machined, resulting in a more precise and sophisticated finish that conforms to the design. The material is also noteworthy. This wedge uses two types of stainless steel, 80% of which is soft 303SS. This softness absorbs impact, increasing the ball's time on the face. As a result, players enjoy easier ball control. The back face intentionally retains the machining marks, resulting in a beautiful finish.

  • While maintaining the 37V groove, the number of grooves has been increased, significantly improving performance
Like the OPUS wedge, the OPUS PLATINUM wedge also features a new groove placement method. While maintaining the traditional 37V sharpness, the groove width has been narrowed to reduce the groove volume. This, combined with a narrower pitch, means there are now two more grooves than before. This results in a significant increase in spin, especially in the rough or on wet grass lies. At the same time, the launch angle has been lowered, greatly improving control when aiming at the target.

  • Inherits the blasting process of the JAWS FORGED wedge and also features microfeatures
The OPUS PLATINUM wedge's face retains the blasted finish of the JAWS FORGED wedge, which was well-received by tour players. The roughness has been upgraded to allow for more solid ball contact. Microfeatures have also been installed between the grooves. These small, diagonally-formed convex portions are positioned directly toward the target when the face is opened, contributing to increased spin.

  • The tungsten bar increases the gear effect and spin rate
The grooves and face treatment are the same as those of the OPUS wedge, but the OPUS PLATINUM wedge uses another special method to increase spin: a tungsten bar mounted on the top edge of the back face. This raises the center of gravity of the head, which means the impact point and the center of gravity are farther apart, increasing the gear effect. As a result, it generates more spin.

  • It comes in two grinds, S and Z, and is available in chrome and navy blue finishes
The sole grinds are available in S and Z. The S grind is the standard shape, while the Z grind features a larger cut at the toe and heel of the trailing edge, a slightly rounded area in between, and a semicircular chamfer on the leading edge. It comes in two finishes: chrome and navy blue. Lofts are available only for the sand wedge and lob wedge, and are available in 54, 56, 58, and 60 degrees.
